Overview
The Tomb of Salim Chishti, a white marble mausoleum in the courtyard of Fatehpur Sikri's Jama Masjid, was built around 1580-1581 to honor the Sufi saint Sheikh Salim Chishti, who predicted the birth of Akbar's heir. It features exquisite marble latticework (jali) and mother-of-pearl inlay, and pilgrims seeking children still tie threads around the tomb as part of an enduring wish-making tradition.
