Overview
Mehtab Bagh (Moonlight Garden) sits across the Yamuna River from the Taj Mahal. Legend has it Shah Jahan planned to build a second Taj in black marble here. Now restored as a well-maintained garden, it offers the most complete frontal view of the Taj Mahal across the river — the perfect photo spot. Sunset views of the Taj glowing golden are especially popular. Admission INR 300 for foreigners. About 10 minutes by auto-rickshaw from the Taj Mahal.
Opening Hours
Daily, sunrise to sunset
Travel Tips
Visit at sunset for golden-hour photos of the Taj. Far fewer tourists than inside the Taj compound, so much more relaxed.
