Overview
The Jama Masjid at Fatehpur Sikri was built around 1571 by Emperor Akbar and was one of India's largest mosques at the time of completion. Its vast courtyard of red sandstone and white marble houses both the Tomb of Salim Chishti and the Buland Darwaza, forming the religious heart of Fatehpur Sikri. It remains an active mosque used for prayer today. Included in Fatehpur Sikri entry.
