Christ the Redeemer of the Andes

로스 리베르타도레스 고개, 아르헨티나-칠레 국경 (멘도사 시내에서 약 200km, 차로 3~4시간)

Overview

Erected on March 13, 1904, this 7-meter bronze statue was cast from melted-down cannons once used by San Martín's Army of the Andes. It stands at the Los Libertadores mountain pass (3,832 m) on the Argentina-Chile border, roughly a 3-4 hour drive (about 200 km) from downtown Mendoza. There is no admission fee, but as a border area, access can be restricted by heavy snowfall in winter. Most visitors combine it with a day trip that also covers nearby Puente del Inca and Uspallata.

Opening Hours

Accessible year-round, but subject to closures due to weather or border conditions
