Overview
Mendoza Cathedral (Our Lady of Loreto), built in 1875, has served as the city's interim cathedral since 1934 after the original cathedral was destroyed in the devastating 1861 earthquake. Admission is free, and visitors can view the interior during Mass times. It's within easy walking distance of the city center, making it easy to combine with a visit to Plaza Independencia. The square in front of the cathedral retains traces of the old 'Plaza Nueva,' offering a glimpse into Mendoza's downtown history.
