Overview
Kapuzinerberg is a forested hill rising across the Salzach from the Old Town, home to the Capuchin Monastery and remnants of medieval city fortifications. The Hettwer Bastei bastion offers a classic panorama of Hohensalzburg Fortress and the Old Town, and the site of writer Stefan Zweig's former residence sits on its slopes. Climb the 261-step Imbergstiege from Steingasse, or take the gentler Prügelweg path from Linzergasse. Free admission. About a 10-minute walk from the Old Town.
