Overview
Salzburg Cathedral (Salzburger Dom) is a Baroque cathedral consecrated in 1628 after fire destroyed the earlier Romanesque cathedral on the site. Mozart was baptized here and later served as court organist, and the cathedral anchors the UNESCO-listed Old Town. The nave is generally free to enter, though tourist access is restricted during services; the combined DomQuartier ticket (about EUR 13-15) adds access to the organ loft and roof terrace. 5-8 minute walk from Mozartplatz; buses 1/3/5/6/7/8/20/21/24/25/27/28 to Rathaus/Hanuschplatz.
