Overview
Haus der Musik occupies the Palais Erzherzog Carl and is an interactive sound museum spanning five floors (about 5,000 sqm), covering the physics of sound as well as the lives and music of Vienna's great composers — Mozart, Haydn, and Strauss among them. The Vienna Philharmonic floor and the virtual conducting booth, where visitors can 'conduct' a virtual orchestra, are especially popular. Located between St. Stephen's Cathedral and the State Opera, it's an easy stop on a walking tour. Admission adults EUR 17-19, under-12 about EUR 7, family ticket about EUR 35. 5-7 minute walk from Stephansplatz (U1/U3) or Karlsplatz (U1/U2/U4).
