Overview
Opened in 1891 to display the Habsburgs' vast art collection, the Kunsthistorisches Museum is one of the world's top art museums. It holds the world's largest collection of Pieter Bruegel the Elder, along with masterworks by Rubens, Rembrandt, Velázquez, Raphael, and Caravaggio. The building itself is a masterpiece — marble columns and ceiling frescoes create a palace-like atmosphere. Admission about EUR 21 (adult). U-Bahn U2 Museumsquartier or U3 Volkstheater station.
