Overview
Vienna's Central Cemetery (Zentralfriedhof) opened in 1874 and spans about 2.5 sq km, with over 3 million burials, making it one of Europe's largest cemeteries. Near the main entrance (Tor 2), Group 32A gathers the graves of musical giants — Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, both Johann Strausses, Gluck, and Hugo Wolf — while a memorial to Mozart also stands here, though his actual grave lies in St. Marx Cemetery. The vast grounds also include separate Jewish, Islamic, and Russian Orthodox sections, reflecting Vienna's multicultural history. Free admission. Take tram 71 from Schwarzenbergplatz or Schottentor to the 'Zentralfriedhof 2. Tor' stop.
