Overview
Christ the Redeemer is a 30m-tall statue of Jesus standing atop Rio de Janeiro's Corcovado Mountain (710m), and was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. Completed in 1931, the statue looks down over Rio with outstretched arms and is Brazil's most iconic landmark. From the summit you'll get a 360-degree panorama of Sugarloaf, Copacabana Beach, and Guanabara Bay. Riding the cog train up through the rainforest is a delight in itself.
Opening Hours
Daily 08:00-19:00.
Travel Tips
Visiting in the morning avoids backlighting and yields better photos. Book the Trem do Corcovado cog train in advance, and choose a clear day since clouds can obscure the view.
