Overview
Parque Lage sits at the base of Corcovado Mountain, featuring a Romantic-style garden, artificial grotto, and ponds designed around 1840 by English landscaper John Tyndale. The Italian-style mansion at its center now houses the National School of Visual Arts, and its courtyard café — famous for coffee, brunch, and photos framing Christ the Redeemer in the background — draws visitors and film crews alike. Admission is free. About a 10-minute bus or taxi ride from Botafogo metro station.
