Casa das Rosas

Paulista Avenue, São Paulo

Overview

Casa das Rosas, completed in 1935 in French mansion style, is the last building on Paulista Avenue to preserve the atmosphere of the old estate era amid a forest of skyscrapers. Built as the home of the Ramos de Azevedo architectural family, it was purchased by the city of São Paulo in 1985 and has operated as a literary cultural center since 1991. The rose vines in its garden gave the house its name, and inside it hosts poetry readings, literary exhibitions, and workshops in a peaceful setting. Admission is free, and the garden café is a nice place to relax.
