Overview
Sé Cathedral (Catedral da Sé), on Praça da Sé in São Paulo's historic center, is a Neo-Gothic cathedral built from 1913 to 1954. It's one of South America's largest Neo-Gothic cathedrals, seating up to 8,000, with a granite façade, stained glass, and the remains of indigenous chief Tibiriçá interred in its crypt. Sé metro station sits right in front of it, making the cathedral a symbolic reference point of the city's transit network. Entry is free; a small fee applies for the guided tour of the cathedral and crypt.
