Overview
The Museum of the Portuguese Language occupies the British-style Neoclassical Estação da Luz (Luz train station), completed in 1901, and uses interactive exhibits to explore the origins of the Portuguese language, Brazil's regional dialects, and literature. Severely damaged by a 2015 fire, it reopened in 2021 with even more technological and interactive displays. The building itself is a symbol of São Paulo's railway history, and the adjacent Jardim da Luz garden and Pinacoteca museum make for a great combined visit. Admission is R$25 full price, R$12.50 half price, and free on Tuesdays and Sundays.
