Old Port of Montreal

Old Port, Montreal

Overview

The Old Port of Montreal is a roughly 2 km, 53-hectare waterfront stretch between Old Montreal and the St. Lawrence River, redeveloped in 1992 from a rundown commercial wharf into a public promenade and park. The area itself is free to enter and open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight, while paid attractions such as the 1922 clock tower, Montreal Science Centre, Ferris wheel, and zipline operate individually. From mid-May through October, harbor cruises, bike and inline-skate rentals, and small tram tours are in full swing, while winter brings an outdoor skating rink and the Igloofest festival. It's a short walk from Champ-de-Mars or Place-d'Armes métro stations on the Orange Line.
