Overview
Saint Joseph's Oratory is a Roman Catholic minor basilica located at 3800 Queen Mary Road atop Mount Royal in the Côte-des-Neiges district, beginning as a small chapel built by Saint André Bessette in 1904. Construction of the current basilica began in 1922 and was completed in 1967; it is a National Historic Site of Canada, drawing over 2 million pilgrims and visitors annually. Entry to the main church, crypt, and Brother André exhibit is free, while the on-site museum charges a small fee of roughly CA$4-5 for adults and CA$2 for children. It's a short walk from Côte-des-Neiges métro station on the Orange Line, with parking fees applying after 30 minutes.
