Overview
Steveston Village is a historic fishing village at the mouth of the Fraser River in Richmond that flourished as a salmon-canning hub in the late 19th century, once home to 15 canneries. Its landmark Fisherman's Wharf berths over 500 fishing vessels, where visitors can buy fresh seafood directly off the boats. The Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, built in 1894, and the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site let visitors explore the region's canning and shipbuilding history, and simply strolling the village and wharf is free. From downtown Vancouver, take the Canada Line to Bridgeport Station and transfer to the #401 bus for about a 40-minute trip.
