Overview
The Musegg Wall is an 870-meter fortification built in the 13th century, the longest surviving city wall in Switzerland. Of the original 30 towers, 9 remain, and four — the Schirmerturm, Männliturm, Zytturm, and Wachtturm — are open to the public. The Zytturm, built in 1442, houses the oldest tower clock in central Switzerland, famously chiming a minute ahead of every other clock in town. Admission is free, and the towers are open daily 8:00-19:00 from April to November (closed November-March). It's a 10-15 minute walk uphill from the Old Town, with some stairs, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
Opening Hours
Open daily 08:00-19:00, April-November; closed November-March (schedule may vary, check before visiting).
Travel Tips
The towers operate seasonally, so check ahead before visiting. The view from the Zytturm (Clock Tower) is especially memorable.
