Overview
Opened in 1959 on the shore of Lake Lucerne, the Swiss Museum of Transport is the country's most-visited museum. It covers every mode of transport — railways, automobiles, aviation, space, and shipping — with real vehicles and interactive exhibits. The Gotthard Tunnel model and Swiss rail-history section are highlights. Switzerland's largest IMAX theatre, a planetarium, and the 'Swiss Arena' aerial-photo map round out the experience. Fun for all ages, from children to adults. Admission about CHF 36 (50% off with Swiss Travel Pass). About 10 minutes by bus 6/8/24 from Lucerne station.
Opening Hours
Daily 10:00-17:00 (until 18:00 in summer).
Travel Tips
Plan at least 3-4 hours. IMAX and planetarium are extra but worth it. A perfect indoor attraction for rainy days.
