Overview
Completed in 1852, this symbol of Finnish Lutheranism rises above Senate Square with a brilliant white facade. Designed in neoclassical style by Carl Ludvig Engel, the cathedral pairs five green domes with stately Corinthian columns. Looking up at it from the square is the postcard view of Helsinki, and the plaza fills with a large Christmas market each December. Inside, decoration is kept simple in true Lutheran fashion. Free entry. 1-minute walk from Tram 1/7 Senaatintori stop.
Opening Hours
