Overview
Opened in 1909, Finland's oldest open-air museum brings together 87 traditional wooden buildings relocated from across the country, set amid natural woodland. Farmhouses, manors, churches, and windmills illustrate everyday life for both commoners and nobility from the 18th to 20th centuries, and costumed guides demonstrate traditional crafts in summer. The bridge-connected island is also a popular nature walk and hosts one of Finland's grandest Midsummer (Juhannus) celebrations each year.
