Overview
Completed in 1969, Temppeliaukio is carved directly into a granite outcrop. Natural light filters between the rough rock walls and the copper-domed ceiling, creating a mystical atmosphere, while the raw stone surface produces remarkable acoustics that make it a sought-after concert venue. Nicknamed the 'Rock Church', it draws over half a million visitors a year and is considered a landmark of Finnish modernist architecture.
Travel Tips
Check the concert schedule to enjoy the famous acoustics. Admission is about EUR 4, and entry is restricted during services.
