Turku

Southwest Finland

Turku

투르쿠

Finland's oldest city, with a medieval castle and a vibrant cultural scene along the Aura River. Turku Castle's medieval history, the Lutheran traditions of Turku Cathedral, and the restaurant boats on the Aura are compelling experiences. Smaller and more relaxed than Helsinki, it's a great place to enjoy Finnish history and summer culture — and the Archipelago Sea Trail of islands is also worth exploring.

Best Season

June-August is the prime travel window, when the restaurant boats and riverside terraces come alive. The Declaration of Christmas Peace on Dec 24 is also a special tradition.

Budget

Around KRW 120,000-250,000 per day (lodging 70-140k, food 30-60k, transit and entry fees 20-40k).

Transport

About 2 hours from Helsinki by VR train. The city is easy to cover on foot and by bus, with the Aura riverside especially walkable. Prepaid SIMs are available at the airport (Elisa, DNA, etc., about EUR 10-15/week). Finland is nearly cashless — card payments are universal. Service is included in restaurant bills; rounding up is common but tipping is optional.

Visa

Korean passport holders can enter the Schengen Area visa-free for up to 90 days.

Safety

A very safe city. Take care on icy pavements in winter.
