Overview
This hill was home to Turku Prison, which operated from 1853 until its closure in 2007. After redevelopment in the 2010s, the granite prison buildings were transformed into a hotel, restaurants, a spa, and view apartments while preserving their distinctive atmosphere. From the hilltop, a panoramic view stretches over central Turku, the Aura River, and the harbor. It stands as one of Turku's best examples of urban regeneration blending history with modern reuse.
