Overview
One of Edinburgh's oldest church graveyards, established in 1562, Greyfriars Kirkyard is widely known for the true story of Greyfriars Bobby, a loyal dog said to have guarded his owner's grave for 14 years. A statue of Bobby stands at the entrance, and the graveyard is also famous as a source of character name inspiration for J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter novels. It's a regular stop on ghost tours.
