Created in the early 19th century by draining the polluted Nor Loch, this park runs through the valley beneath Castle Rock and Edinburgh Castle. Landmarks like the Scott Monument and Ross Fountain dot the grounds, and the gardens buzz year-round with summer outdoor concerts and festivals, plus a major Christmas market and outdoor ice rink in winter. It also serves as a walking route linking the New Town and Old Town. Free entry. Located in the heart of Princes Street.
