Overview
Stretching about 4.5km along the Thermaic Gulf from the White Tower to the Concert Hall (Megaron), the Paralia is Thessaloniki's beloved waterfront promenade. Redesigned in 2014 by Greek architect Prodromos Nikifoidis, it now blends contemporary sculpture, themed gardens, bike paths, and cafe terraces. The 13 themed gardens (Olive, Love, Music, and more) and the umbrella sculpture 'Umbrellas' by Georgios Zongolopoulos are the favorite photo spots, and sunset over the Thermaic Gulf - with Mount Olympus on the horizon - is magical. Rent a bike (about EUR 5/hour) to ride the length, or stroll alongside locals walking their dogs for a taste of daily Thessaloniki life. Free entry. Starts at the White Tower.
