Overview
About 20 km south of Dubrovnik on the Konavle peninsula, this seaside town traces its origins to Epidaurus, founded by Greeks in the 6th century BC. Pastel-colored buildings line a palm-shaded waterfront promenade, offering a far quieter, more relaxed atmosphere than Dubrovnik itself. The Račić family mausoleum, designed by Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović, sits in the hilltop church cemetery, adding artistic interest. Dubrovnik Airport is nearby, and the town is also reachable by ferry. About 40 minutes by bus or 50 minutes by ferry from Dubrovnik.
