Overview
Established in 1794 by the Bishop of Zagreb, Maksimir is one of Europe's earliest public parks. Spanning 316 hectares, it features five artificial lakes, forests, and meadows laid out in the English landscape style. The Zagreb Zoo sits within the park. It's a favorite weekend retreat for locals, perfect for walking, jogging, or simply unwinding after city sightseeing. Park free (zoo about EUR 5). 5-minute walk from Tram 11/12 Bukovačka stop.
