Overview
Officially the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, this is Croatia's tallest building at 108m. Construction began in the 11th century, and after the 1880 earthquake it was rebuilt in Neo-Gothic style with its iconic twin spires. Inside are tombs of Croatian political and religious figures and medieval frescoes. The south spire was damaged in a 2020 earthquake and is being restored, though the interior remains open. Free entry. 3-minute walk from Dolac Market.
Opening Hours
Mon-Sat 10:00-17:00, Sun 13:00-17:00
Travel Tips
Scaffolding from the 2020 earthquake restoration may be visible, but the interior is open as normal. Combine with a Dolac Market visit.
