Overview
Laid out in the 19th century during the Austro-Hungarian era, this park-square in Zagreb's Lower Town is named after Croatian nobleman Nikola Šubić Zrinski. Plane tree avenues, a weather-observation column installed in 1884 (still functioning), and fountains create a harmonious setting, and a Sunday morning brass band tradition continues today. Several major museums, including the Croatian Natural History Museum and Archaeological Museum, ring the park, making it a great cultural stroll. Free entry. 3-minute walk from Ban Jelačić Square.
