Overview
Designated in 1977 as one of Hungary's first national parks, Bukk is defined by beech forests and limestone karst terrain across the Bukk Mountains. Hundreds of limestone caves dot the park, some open to visitors. Hiking trails of varying difficulty and cycling paths make it a great day trip from Eger, with rare wildflowers and butterflies adding to its unique ecosystem. Park entry free; cave tours cost extra. About 20-30 minutes by car from Eger.
