Overview
Built in the 17th century during Ottoman rule, this 14-sided tower stands roughly 40 m tall as Europe's northernmost minaret. Climbing the 97 narrow spiral steps rewards you with a panorama of Eger. It is a rare testament to the 150 years of Ottoman rule over Eger; the crescent that once topped the spire has been replaced by a cross. Few Ottoman traces survive in Hungary, making it a precious relic.
