Overview
A U-shaped valley southwest of Eger, with dozens of wine cellars carved into the cliff faces on either side. Each cellar offers tastings of local wines including Egri Bikavér (Bull's Blood) — a glass costs about HUF 300-500 (EUR 1-1.5). Chatting with cellar owners teaches you about winemaking and the history of Eger wine. Summer evenings bring live music and a festive atmosphere. Free entry (wine tasting extra). About 20 minutes on foot from the town center.
Opening Hours
Varies by cellar (typically 10:00-20:00, until 22:00 in summer)
Travel Tips
Sample small amounts at multiple cellars. You can walk or taxi there; save a taxi number for the return trip.
