Overview
Eger's historic central square is anchored by a statue of István Dobó, the hero who defended Eger Castle against the Ottomans in 1552. Baroque buildings surround the square, which sits between the minaret and the route up to the castle. Cafe and restaurant terraces offer a relaxing break, and summer brings cultural events and festivals. The Baroque facade of the Minorite Church on the south side is also worth admiring. Free and open.
