Overview
At the mouth of Galway Bay lie three limestone islands - Inishmore, Inishmaan and Inisheer - where Gaelic is still the everyday language and traditional culture flourishes. Inishmore's Dun Aonghasa is a prehistoric stone fort perched on a 100 m cliff above the crashing Atlantic. Tiny fields divided by stone walls, thatched cottages and traditional currach fishing boats preserve a timeless Irish scene.
