Overview
On Galway's western edge in the Salthill area, this 2km seafront promenade offers sweeping views of Galway Bay and the Burren mountains of Clare across the water. At the far end, the Blackrock Diving Tower is a Salthill icon — locals leap into the sea here year-round, even in mid-winter. Cafés, pubs, and a small seaside amusement park line the promenade, making it great for families, and sunsets sinking into Galway Bay are unforgettable. A local tradition holds that 'kicking the wall' at the far end of the promenade and walking back brings good luck. Free entry. About 15 minutes by bus or 30 minutes on foot from the Latin Quarter.
