Overview
Established in 1890, Dhobi Ghat is the world's largest open-air laundry, where about 7,000 washers (dhobis) hand-wash clothes from across Mumbai every day. From a bridge near Mahalakshmi Station, you can see the striking scene of hundreds of concrete wash troughs and colorful clothes drying in rows. Symbolizing Mumbai's working-class economy and industrious culture, it is also a popular spot for photographers. Free viewing (from the bridge). 5-minute walk from Mahalakshmi Station (Metro Line 1).
