Overview
Palacio de Bellas Artes is Mexico's top cultural venue, completed in 1934 as an Art Nouveau and Art Deco masterpiece in the historic center. The Carrara white-marble exterior against Alameda Park is picture-perfect, and inside hang murals by Mexican greats Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros. The main theater's stage curtain - made of a million pieces of Tiffany glass - is a marvel revealed before performances. Every Wednesday and Sunday the Ballet Folklórico de México performs traditional dances. Museum admission MXN 90; ballet tickets separate. Metro Bellas Artes (Lines 2/8).
