Overview
Xochimilco, south of Mexico City, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site preserving about 170km of canals built since Aztec times. True to its name 'field of flowers,' the highlight is riding colorful trajinera wooden boats along the canals. Mariachi musicians serenade you onboard, and vendors in other boats pull alongside selling tacos, tortillas, and micheladas - Mexico's floating party culture. Nearby, the Isla de las Muñecas (Island of the Dolls) draws visitors with its eerie atmosphere. Trajineras about MXN 600/hour (up to 12 people). 30 minutes from Metro Line 2 Tasqueña via light rail.
Opening Hours
Daily 08:00-19:00 (trajinera operating hours)
