Rio Vermelho is Salvador's bohemian coastal district and the city's most beloved neighborhood. Bahiana women selling acarajé, seafood restaurants, and live music bars line the waterfront, offering an authentic taste of local culture. The Festa de Iemanjá (Sea Goddess Festival) on February 2 starts here, with thousands throwing flowers and gifts into the ocean. On Friday and Saturday nights, the whole district takes on a festive atmosphere.
