Overview
Located on Banff Avenue in the town centre, this museum was established in 1895 and holds more than 5,000 taxidermy specimens of bears, bighorn sheep, birds and more, making it the oldest natural history museum in Western Canada. The wood-frame building itself was designated a National Historic Site in 1985. Since it sits within the townsite, no park pass is required and admission is free. It's an easy walk from anywhere on Banff Avenue.
