Overview
Founded in honour of Banff artists Peter and Catharine Whyte, the museum preserves paintings, photographs and archives covering the pioneering, Indigenous and mountaineering history of the Canadian Rockies. It's especially known for its archive of more than 700,000 photographs, including many by pioneering Rockies photographer Byron Harmon. Admission is around CA$12 for adults, separate from the park entry fee. It's on Bear Street in downtown Banff, just a few minutes' walk from Banff Avenue.
