Overview
Lake Louise is a glacial lake in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, fed by meltwater from the Victoria Glacier to produce its mystical emerald color. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel on the shore is called 'the jewel of the Rockies,' and the lake views are among the most photographed in Canada. In summer it's perfect for canoeing and hiking, and in winter for skiing and ice skating.
Opening Hours
Open 24 hours (check seasonal road conditions).
Travel Tips
In peak summer (July-August) the parking lot fills up early in the morning, so use the shuttle bus. Hiking the Big Beehive trail offers stunning views down on the lake.
