Overview
Johnston Canyon is one of Banff National Park's most popular trails, with catwalks and bridges making the deep limestone canyon safely accessible. The Lower Falls is a 2.4km round trip (about 1 hour), and the Upper Falls is 5.4km round trip (2-3 hours), both relatively easy and family-friendly. In winter, the falls freeze into blue ice columns and become a popular ice-climbing site. Lush green moss and small birds add to the magical atmosphere. Free entry (Park Pass required). About 25 minutes by car from Banff town.
