Overview
Standing atop Petrov Hill, this iconic cathedral features neo-Gothic twin towers that define the Brno skyline. Construction began as a Romanesque church in the 11th century, and it has been rebuilt several times since. Uniquely, the cathedral bells ring at 11:00 rather than noon — a tradition tracing back to a legend from the Thirty Years' War, when ringing early tricked the Swedish army into lifting their siege. The tower offers panoramic views over Brno. Cathedral free; tower about CZK 60. 5-minute walk from Tram 4 Šilingrovo náměstí stop.
Opening Hours
Mon-Sat 08:15-18:30, Sun 07:00-18:30 (tower: 10:00-18:00).
Travel Tips
Time your visit for the 11:00 bell ringing. The tower stairs are narrow, so wear comfortable shoes.
