Overview
Once part of the Christiansdal manor estate, this forest was purchased by Odense Municipality in 1875 and turned into a public park. Covering about 24 hectares of deciduous woodland with beech trees over 300 years old, it's been a favorite picnic and dance destination for the well-to-do since the 19th century. Families still picnic around Skovsøen, an artificial lake dug during World War I, and it borders Funen Village, making the two easy to combine. Free to visit.
