Overview

Opened in 1889, this is Greece's largest and one of the world's finest archaeological museums, housing roughly 20,000 artifacts from the Neolithic through Mycenaean, Classical, Hellenistic, and Roman eras. Highlights include the 'Mask of Agamemnon' and other Mycenaean gold treasures unearthed by Heinrich Schliemann, the Antikythera Mechanism, and the bronze statue of Zeus (or Poseidon) of Artemision. Admission about EUR 12. About a 5-minute walk from Metro Viktoria (Line 1).
