Overview
Rebuilt entirely in white Pentelic marble for the first modern Olympics in 1896 on the site of a 4th-century BC ancient stadium, this is the only all-marble stadium in the world. It seats over 50,000 and features a distinctive U-shaped track. The Olympic torch passes through here before every Games, and it also serves as the Athens marathon finish line. Admission about EUR 10 lets you walk the track yourself, and an audio guide is included. About a 15-minute walk from Metro Akropoli or Syntagma (Line 2).
